Lessons from practice
A few things we learned applying this system:
Context loss is real. When AI conversation context compacts (gets summarized due to length), nuanced instructions can get lost. CONTEXT.md solves this — the critical state lives in a file, not in conversation memory. Session protocols ensure it gets updated.
Rules must be applied, not just documented. We caught ourselves documenting capitalization rules in CLAUDE.md while leaving the violations in the files we were editing. The fix: check for rule violations immediately after documenting rules.
AI follows instructions reliably. That's both a strength and a requirement. If "check lessons before starting" isn't in CLAUDE.md, it won't happen. If it is, it happens every time.
